CeNeuro2016 - C. elegans Topic Meeting in Nagoya

　　We are happy to announce the 3rd Nagoya BNC International Symposium, to be held on July 30th, 2016, as a satellite meeting of CeNeuro2016. Researchers within and outside Japan, who are currently studying or will be interested in studying a variety of aspects of neural circuits in small organisms such as C. elegans, fruit fly, zebrafish and crustaceans, will be expected to gather to share their expertise. The symposium has been held regularly by the Nagoya Research Center for Brain & Neural Circuits, launched in October 2014 at the initiative of　Drs. Ikue Mori, Azusa Kamikouchi and Hiroko Bannai at Nagoya University.

　　Brains of small animals are of growing importance as the power plant of research for the “understanding neuronal basis of animal behavior at single-cell level”. This is because their neural circuits have the benefit of being easily accessible with cellular level analysis, combined with the use of genetic engineering and imaging techniques. This meeting, held in conjunction with CeNeuro2016, will surely be an opportunity in which hundreds of researchers with diverse scientific disciplines will meet together, share ideas and start collaborations.

　　この度、名古屋大学脳神経回路研究ユニットでは、博士課程教育リーディングプログラム「グリーン自然科学国際教育研究プログラム」における研究活動の一環として、線虫、ショウジョウバエ、ゼブラフィッシュ、その他甲殻類などの小規模な脳神経回路を研究対象とする国内外の研究者が一同に会する『名古屋大学神経回路国際シンポジウム(Nagoya BNC)』を、『線虫神経生物学国際集会（CeNeuro2016）』のサテライト・ミーティングとして合同開催することとなりました。

　　小規模脳は、神経回路が細胞レベルで同定しやすいという利点に、遺伝子操作、イメージングやコンピューター技術を組み合わせることにより、「動物行動を生み出す脳機能を単一細胞レベルで詳細に理解する」研究のパワープラントとして、近年その重要性が増しています。本シンポジウムをCeNeuro と合同開催することで、小規模脳研究のストラテジーを共有する多様な研究者が集結し、世界的にも類を見ない大規模な情報交換ができる研究集会を実現します。興味のある方に、是非ご参加いただきたいと思います。
