- Selection of successful applicants other than applicants due to graduate or have graduated from the Nagoya University School of Science Biological Sciences program consists of a first (document) Screening and second screening (oral examination: as a rule, applicants who do not reside in Japan will be interviewed using a VoIP system on the Internet such as Zoom, etc.).
- Applicants who successfully pass the first (document) screening will also be informed via email of the date of the second (oral examination) screening by the graduate school to which they applied.
- Each of the selection methods 1. and 2. above will be conducted separately.
Graduate school research at Nagoya University offers a gateway for those eager to build upon their undergraduate expertise or to contribute to biological research with their professional insights. We invite individuals with a passion for scientific inquiry and a desire to lead at the forefront of research to join our program. Our Graduate School of Science champions interdisciplinary collaboration across fields such as physics and chemistry. Within our Department of Biological Science, 26 research groups form the academic core, offering access to specialized facilities like the Sugashima Marine Laboratory and the Gene Experimental Facility, as well as partnerships with the Institute of Transformative Bio-Molecules (ITbM) and the Graduate School of Pharmaceutical Sciences. Students will join a research group and receive guidance from a main supervisor, supported by two additional mentors from different groups, fostering a robust triad mentorship system.

(The oral examination will include a presentation on the applicant’s master’s thesis or published papers equivalent to the thesis, and an oral examination.
